I'm a software engineer, developer mentor, career coach, and wearer of many hats. For more than two decades, I've built software for many companies ranging from famous ones that you've definitely heard of to obscure ones that you probably haven't heard of.
Aside from my professional career, I've also created or contributed to a range of other notable projects:
- Founder of Otherworldly Media, a small, bootstrapped company I created to develop an eclectic range of products and projects, such as:
- Roosevelt web framework: An open source Node.js-based web framework and a family of related sub-projects.
- SpaceOpera.com: Critical reviews of various space opera TV shows and films.
- Curly Braces Merch: A line of programmer-themed clothing and other merchandise.
- Angel backer of game console startup OUYA (2012). Company later acquired by Razer (2015).
- Lead developer of NINRemixes.com from 2005-2009. It was a website that hosted thousands of remixes of songs by Nine Inch Nails.
- Contributor to countless other open source projects spanning many years including to notable projects such as Glyphr Studio font authoring app, Element and Seaglass native macOS Matrix clients, Mattermost group chat system, NW.js desktop app framework, DuckDuckGo search engine, Adobe Brackets code editor, MAYDAY PAC website, dozens of ROM hacks for the 1993 game Secret of Mana, and more.
I was also the 2006 Time Person of the Year.
