Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

Everytime Sci-Fi Channel comes near "Battlestar Galactica", BAD THINGS HAPPEN. This is historical fact. The Sci-Fi Channel isn't even run by a management team who knows what the hell Science Fiction is (and could care less), so it comes as no surprise that when Sci-Fi Channel got their hands on the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name, BAD THINGS HAPPENED IN BOTH INSTANCES:
SCIOGRAPHY
If you think Ronald D. Moore's "Crappy Star: Galactica" is a TERRIBLE PRODUCTION, get your hands on a bootlegged recording of the Sci-Fi Channel's "Sciography" special on "Battlestar Galactica." Aired in the summer of 2000, the "Galactica" special on "Sciography" made the "Star Wars Holiday Special" (aired in 1978) look like a MASTERPIECE. "Sciography" had TROUBLE written all over it, and the Sci-Fi Channel's FIRST MISTAKE was believing that they could tell the entire history of the "Battlestar Galactica" tv series in one hour plus commercial breaks. So, in the Sci-Fi Channel's case, we had a 40 minute segment on "Battlestar Galactica" that wasn't even historically accurate, and relied on decades old rumor and innuendo to tell the history of "Galactica" instead of telling the truth.
While it's true that Glen Larson wrote a script in the 1960's called "Adam's Ark", what is NOT TRUE is this script evolved into "Battlestar Galactica." A good 95% of what we know to be "Battlestar Galactica" actually came from a script written by Leslie Stevens in the Spring and Summer of 1977. While it's true that Richard Hatch wanted some improvements in scripts, what is NOT TRUE is that Richard was being a "pain in the butt" about it. While it's true that "Battlestar Galactica" got cancelled in the Spring of 1979, what is NOT TRUE is that the ratings were the reason. (Read my "Who Killed Galactica?" article in the "Conspriracy" section). On top of this, there was miles of information vital to telling the history of "Galactica" that Sci-Fi Channel didn't even touch on:
1) That "Galactica" was originally intended as a 7 hour mini series. 2) That it got greenlit for regular series production midway through the shooting of the pilot. 3) That ABC really didn't want the series in the first place. 4) That John Dykstra left the series due to BAD MANAGEMENT from ABC-TV. 5) That "Galactica" was one of the highest rated series of the new season, and the ratings stayed high up to the cancellation. 6) That Universal and ABC weren't getting along for reasons other than the casting of Dirk Benedict. 7) Leslie Stevens wasn't even mentioned in this "Sciography" special.
Some interviews with other cast members ended up on the cutting room floor. 9) Same for production crew personnel. 10) Special effects people other than John Dykstra weren't even mentioned. 11) The "Colonial Viper" was designed by Andrew Probert, the same designer who designed "Airwolf." 12) Shooting was stalled on the pilot when parts of Los Angeles were flooded with rain and the bridge set almost got flooded. 13) Where is Maren Jenson? Instead of answering this question, Sci-Fi Channel devoted a WORTHLESS SEGMENT to "Evie" the chimp.
14) Vintage promo commercials for "Galactica" weren't shown, yet they were donated by Michael Faries.
15) Other material was donated to "Sciography" and never used.
Overall, the "Sciography" special on "Galactica" had an ATTITUDE OF CONTEMPT for the very show they were doing the biography on. Not surprising, since Sci-Fi Channel produced this "HUNK OF CRAP."
RONALD D. MOORE'S "CRAPPY STAR: GALACTICA" PRODUCTION
Just about any post on this board will tell you (in detail) why this production SUCKS SO MUCH.
