When Ronald D. Moore's CRAP FEST gets CANCELLED very soon, Ronald D. Moore and David Eick vacating the television industry will be a BLESSING that the television industry is in DESPERATE NEED of. Ronald D. Moore's EGO has been all over this production like William Shatner's toupee was all over "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier." Perhaps the reason why Ronald D. Moore fought so hard to get his SHIT on the air, is that he has a psychological need to flex his EGO through CRAPPY WRITING and NOVICE PRODUCING. This of course, has taken the form of UNAPPEALING CHARACTERS, CLICHED STORYLINES, SEXUAL PERVERSION, COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT all over the God damn place, and the continued SLAMMING by Ronald D. Moore himself (along with his cast and crew) of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES."
We have all seen the sad results of Ronald D. Moore's EGO being allowed to run loose in the cable television industry. CRAPPY TELEVISION of the HIGHEST MAGNITUDE, characterized by Ronald D. Moore's SHITTY ASS television series whose poor conception and lack of a coherent identity can be traced back to Ronald D. Moore's "crimes against television viewers" on his WORD PROCESSOR. Ronald D. Moore's television series has NO CLEAR CUT IDENTITY, yet Moore's EGO is all over this God damn production.
Catching about 30 seconds of last night's episode from a series I have already had MORE THAN ENOUGH OF, I saw the "Dirk Benedict Genetic Mutation Experiment" - (Katee Sackhoff) wandering away from a spaceship that looked like a "Cylon Raider", up the steps of a building that looked like something in a present day, Canadian city; into some room that looked like the ruins of the nation's Capitol from "Logan's Run", all the while Katee Sackhoff was wearing a present day, ragged military uniform, and injecting herself with something that reduced her to a present day "junkie."
This is one of the MAJOR PROBLEMS with Ronald D. Moore's series. Questions that Ronald D. Moore FAILED to ask himself during the pre-production phase of this series (the mark of a true, INEXPERIENCED PRODUCER); were NEVER ANSWERED. Just what is it that Ronald D. Moore is trying to do here?
1) A present day military drama?
2) A futurisitic, space fantasy?
3) A commentary on drug addiction?
Yet another episode of Moore's SHIT was set in some COURTROOM. In one particular scene, everyone was dressed in present day clothing, complete with shirts and ties. So again, because Ronald D. Moore NEVER EVEN revealed to himself what the hell, EXACTLY he is trying to do here; we have this strange SCHIZOPHRENIC, FLEA MARKETED HODGEPODGE of multiple programming ideas (all cliched), ALL CONVERGING in an INCONSISTENT MISH MASH into Moore's series. In this particular scene, we have yet another shot of a female crossing and uncrossing her legs while staring at Baltar. So again, as a viewer, you are asking yourself the same questions that Ronald D. Moore SHOULD HAVE BEEN asking himself if he were an experenced producer. Just WHAT THE HELL is he trying to do here?
1) A present day, military drama?
2) A courtroom drama?
3) A futuristic space fantasy?
4) A SEX SHOW?
And as Moore's series continues to go on, you the viewer find yourself increasingly asking yourself these same, sorts of questions with EACH NEW SCENE!! What is VERY APPARENT here, is that Ronald D. Moore and his crew (had and have) NO CLEAR IDEA as to what their series should be about. So, they are THROWING EVERYTHING up on the tv screen as a result. What was important to Ronald D. Moore, was that he get on the air....PERIOD. For the sake of his EGO. Unfortunately, Moore went on the air BEFORE any clear FORMAT or PREMISE was worked out IN HIS SERIES.
The sad reality is, Ronald D. Moore and his writers ARE EVEN MORE LOST than the writers of "Galactica: 1980" were. Moore and his staff just HAVE NO IDEA what the hell they want to do here. Because of the SCHIZOPHRENIC NATURE of his series, everything that Moore is trying to do is being wiped out by the BLATANT PRODUCTION PROBLEMS plaguing his series. Moore's LIMITED BUDGET is WIPING OUT the illusion of the space fantasy that Moore is trying to create. The INEXPLICABLE INTRUSION of the other formats competing with one another for air time (courtroom drama, SEX SHOW, present day military drama, soap opera) is WIPING OUT the illusion of space fantasy even more.
In the ultimate analysis, just as the "Seinfeld" show was "about nothing in particular" as the cast and crew admitted, Ronald D. Moore and his crew need to come clean and ADMIT the same thing. Ronald D. Moore's show is ABOUT NOTHING IN PARTICULAR. Ronald D. Moore's show is BITS & PIECES of everything you can think of to try and attract as many demographics as it can. Ronald D. Moore's show GOES AFTER:
1) The "Star Trek" demographic.
2) The "Babylon 5" demographic.
3) The "West Wing" demographic.
4) The "M.A.S.H." demographic.
5) The "PORNOGRAPHY" demographic.
6) The "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" demographic.
7) The "Thing" demographic.
 The "Space Fantasy" demographic.
It is the LACK OF EXPERIENCE in producing and writing that is plaguing Ronald D. Moore's series. Moore and his crew are YOUNG and INEXPERIENCED, and in this particular instance, THEIR YOUTH IS WORKING AGAINST THEM. YOUTH and INEXPERIENCE has been responsible for more CRAPPY TELEVISON than you can shake a stick at. And YOUTH & INEXPERIENCE is driving nails into the COFFIN of Moore's series with each passing day.
Ronald D. Moore and his YOUNG & INEXPERIENCED cast and crew have spent a GREAT DEAL OF TIME SLAMMING the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES." Yet, "Battlestar Galactica" from 1978 had a CRYSTAL CLEAR and UNIQUE FORMAT. In the first 20 minutes of the pilot episode of "Battlestar Galactica" from 1978, ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS REGARDING FORMAT AND PREMISE ARE ANSWERED as a viewer. You know WHAT, WHERE, WHY, and WHEN. There are NO QUESTION MARKS when watching the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES." And on top of that, the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA" series remains just as VISUALLY and THEMATICALLY BRILLIANT as it always was.
Ronald D. Moore's series on the other hand, IS AN ENDLESS SERIES OF QUESION MARKS brought on by INEXPERIENCE in producing and writing. Ronald D. Moore's series suffers from ILL-CONCEIVED SCHIZOPHRENIA, which was caused by the INEXPERIENCE OF YOUTH.
