A continuation of "Battlestar Galactica" would have demanded producing and writing experience, which Ronald D. Moore DOES NOT have. It would have demanded that an experienced producer and writer have a THOROUGH understanding of the "Battlestar Galactica" universe, which Ronald D. Moore DOES NOT have. Perhaps most importantly, a continuation of "Battlestar Galactica" WOULD HAVE DEMANDED that an experienced producer and writer TOTALLY ABANDON the CLICHES and TRAPPINGS of the "Rick Berman Star Trek Universe", which Ronald D. Moore FAILED TO DO. On Ronald D. Moore's first producing and writing experience, he proved that he is no more capable of helming a "Battlestar Galactica" production than a FANFIC writer. Ronald D. Moore produces and writes (IN AMATEUR FASHION) what he knows and what he is comfortable with. All that Ronald D. Moore ic comfortable with is the "Rick Berman Star Trek Universe." So, regardless of what Ronald D. Moore's first solo project is titled, whether it be "Battlestar Galactica", "Silver Spoons", or "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood", all that will come out of Ronald D. Moore's cranium is "RICK BERMAN'S STAR TREK UNIVERSE."
The universe of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" was TOO VAST for Ronald D. Moore to deal with on an intellectual level. You have no less than two primary species of aliens that have a vast backstory dating back thousands of yahrens. The "Cylons" and the "Ovions." You have secondary species of aliens in this universe as well, such as the amphibious race called the "Hessaris." You have 12 Worlds, a Battlestar Fleet originally constructed for "deep star exploration", a thoroughly convincing military technology on both the sides of the "Colonials" and the "Cylons." The "Battlestar Universe" was not meant to be interpreted by a former "Star Trek" staff writer. When it does, it gets INTERPRETED INCORRECTLY. "Battlestar Galactica" IS NOT "Star Trek", nor is it the THOUSANDS OF OTHER CLICHES Ronald D. Moore RIPPED OFF from thousands of other media sources.
"Battlestar Galactica" IS, exactly as it appeared in the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES." The personal PREJUDICES and ANIMOSITY that Universal Studios and Ronald D. Moore feel towards the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" WILL NOT INVALIDATE THE CONTENTS of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES."
If anything, the PERSONAL PREJUDICES and ANIMOSITY expressed towards the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" by Universal Studios executives and Ronald D. Moore have SADLY PROVEN what can happen when this property is ABUSED and MISTREATED by those who own it, and by those allowed to reinterpret it into a "STAR TREK CLONE." The only thing that Ronald D. Moore's series has proven, is that the CORPORATE ABUSE and MISMANAGEMENT of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" is in FULL FORCE just as it was in 1979.
The "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" is owned by those who HATE the property, by those who are NOT "Galactica" fans, and by those who SPEND 365 days a year thinking up new ways to MISNANAGE IT. Ronald D. Moore's series of course, being the LATEST MANIFESTATION of this DELIBERATE MISMANAGEMENT.
Ronald D. Moore did not take on this job because he was a "Galactica" fan, but because he needed to support his family. Well, any series called "Battlestar Galactica" needs BETTER MOTIVATION THAN THAT coming from its producer and writer. There needed to be a LEGITIMATE INTERPRETATION of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" here, which Ronald D. Moore FAILED TO DO. This series from 1978 that Ronald D. Moore spends every waking hour SLAMMING REPEATEDLY, is a series that is BEYOND his intellectual capabilities to deal with. The "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" INTIMIDATES Ronald D. Moore. It is an example of SPACE FANTASY that Ronald D. Moore COULD NEVER REPRODUCE even on one of his best days. Because the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" was FUN. And FUN is a FOREIGN CONCEPT to Ronald D. Moore's style of producing and writing.
Every MANIFESTATION OF CRAP that Ronald D. Moore wrote into his series CAN BE FOUND ELSEWHERE. "West Wing", "Star Trek", "Porno Movies", "Soap Operas", etc. Ronald D. Moore REGURGITATES tried and true CLICHES to give rest to the very cranium of his that he NEVER EXERCISED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Ronald D. Moore is SO PREOCCUPIED with the contents of our media pop culture, that he literally AIR LIFTED all of these contents from our media pop culture INTO HIS SERIES. Ronald D. Moore tries to build a career on the excuse, "everything has already been done." Well, if that is the case, then Ronald D. Moore NO LONGER NEEDS TO BE EMPLOYED in this particular profession. Original ideas can still be thought up. Unfortunately, Ronald D. Moore DOES NOT HAVE THIS SKILL.
