Ronald D. Moore and David Eick are quick to SLAM the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES." Collectively, they have called the series "a bad hangover from 1978", "popcorn drivel", "a relic", "cheesy", "juvenile", and "dated." These comments come from two naive, arrogant producers who not only not understand what the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" is about, but also have contributed NOTHING to offer as a suitable replacement for the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES."
The "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" at its core, offers compelling Science Fiction drama that is light years beyond the NOVICE abilities of Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. The resumes of these two men reveal a professional background that is as UNDERWHELMING and as INCOMPATIBLE as one might expect from two IDIOTS inexplicably hired to helm a production called "Battlestar Galactica." David Eick having come from the LOW BUDGET "Xena" show, and Ronald D. Moore coming from the "Rick Berman Litter" of "FORGETTABLE STAR TREK STAFF WRITERS"; collectively form a FORGETTABLE producing and writing duo who have relied on an OVERZEALOUS marketing campaign from Sci-Fi Channel to keep them employed well past the date they both should have been fired.
Stripping away the marketing campaign of what Sci-Fi Channel CLAIMS Ronald D. Moore and David Eick have achieved, what have they REALLY achieved? Forgettable, formulaic, cliched, and derivative television that quivers and shakes under its own lack of imagination. Ronald D. Moore and David Eick have been so DEVOID OF ORIGINAL IDEAS with this production, every episode has been an exercise in pinpointing what movie and tv show Moore and Eick RIPPED OFF ideas from. I mentioned before that this production suffers from a LACK OF EXPERIENCE in producing and scriptwriting. I also stated that the YOUTH of this production crew is the CULPRIT. I stand behind these original statements, as it is becoming increasingly apparent that the YOUTH in the movie and tv industry is SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for the STAGGERING LACK OF IMAGINATION currently POLLUTING our movie and tv screens.
This production DID NOT NEED TO BE MADE. Momentarily disassociating myself from the fandom of "Battlestar Galactica", this production STILL DID NOT NEED TO BE MADE. Primarily because Ronald D. Moore and David Eick have REGURGITATED OLD IDEAS and RIPPED OFF IDEAS from thousands of movies and tv shows that the audience has ALREADY SEEN. This is NOT the mark of experienced producers. This is the mark of PROFESSIONAL HUCKSTERS, SLEAZOIDS, and USED CAR SALESMEN who use slick self promotion to RAM their television productions into existence. Indeed, the DIFFERENCE between the ad copy for this production, and what Moore & Eick actually delivered, is STAGGERING. We were promised "the grand reinvention of televised Science Fiction!!" What we got instead was a "STAR TREK SEQUEL SERIES" called "Battlestar Galactica" RIPPING OFF thousands of incidental ideas from thousands of other movie and tv productions. Adding insult to the injury of Moore & Eick's ARROGANCE, they have the AUDACITY to SLAM the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" which has MORE IMAGINATION in the first 10 minutes of its pilot episode than Moore & Eick have managed to CRAP OUT during their entire season!!
Ronald D. Moore and David Eick talk tough, brag to high heaven, give themselves self congratulatory pats on the back, and FAIL TO BACK UP THEIR BOASTING. Moore and Eick STILL HAVE NOT DELIVERED on one promise they have made in terms of claiming originality, fresh ideas, or the "grand reinvention of televised Science Fiction" with this production. This pathetic abomination which has proved to be a WASTE of "Sky One's" money has revealed itself to be nothing more than a grand reunion, a last gasp round-up of every televised Science Fiction cliche broadcast on our tv screens since 1950. Because Ronald D. Moore and David Eick's production HAS NO IDENTITY OF ITS OWN, it is nothing more than a VISUAL SCRAPBOOK of what has worked THOUSANDS of times before in "Star Trek", "Babylon 5", "Space: Above & Beyond", "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers", "The Thing", "X-Files", soap operas, prime time dramas, etc. Ronald D. Moore and David Eick are as incapable of expressing original ideas and imagination as is Bonnie Hammer incapable of straightening HER OWN ASS OUT and REPAIRING THE DAMAGE she INFLICTED on Sci-Fi Channel.
Indeed, Ronald D. Moore and David Eick have so set progress back a good 50 years on the quality of televised Science Fiction, that I suspect that after this ABOMINATION GETS CANCELLED, we will NEVER AGAIN SEE a Science Fiction television series produced for television. And this is a GOOD THING!!! Since everytime the GOD DAMN studios want a new Science Fiction tv series produced, they IMMEDIATELY run to the FORMER "STAR TREK STAFF WRITERS" for guidance ( ?) I would rather have NO SCIENCE FICTION AT ALL, than have it produced by former "STAR TREK STAFF WRITERS."
