Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

To those of us out in the public domain (where it really matters), Universal Studios handling of the "Battlestar Galactica" property has been a staggering example of LOST OPPORTUNITIES, STUPID DECISION MAKING, POLITICAL AGENDAS TAKING PRIORITY OVER COMMON SENSE AND MONEY MAKING; and a corporate infrastructure within Universal Studios that knows EVEN LESS about "Battlestar Galactica" than they did in 1979. With each passing day, fans of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" yearn for the glimmer of hope Richard Hatch gave to the property when he was on the verge of successfully removing "Galactica" from the CORRUPT HANDS of Universal Studios, and turning it over to a series of investors who REALLY DID want the best for it.
The Internet is POLLUTED with an army of Universal Studios executives PRETENDING to be fans of Ronald D. Moore's production. One Universal executive in particular with a vacant cranium where brain cells should inhabit boasted that the production he had the nerve to call "Battlestar Galactica" (currently Ron Moore's project) is a "window to our world", "a commentary on present day society." This my friends, is the rub. As what this Universal executive described, is everything that "STAR TREK" has been. Executives at Universal Studios were not the slightest bit interested in reviving "Battlestar Galactica." What has been gnawing away in the back of the HOLLOW CRANIUMS of Universal executives for DECADES, is their PERSONAL DESIRE to have their VERY OWN "STAR TREK" series. Indeed, if there were no copyright laws in place protecting personal property, Universal executives would step right in and STEAL Paramount Pictures "Star Trek" franchise right out from underneath their noses!!
OOOOOPS!!! Sorry my friends!!! UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HAS ALREADY DONE THIS!!!!
Universal Studios motto is: THE HELL WITH COPYRIGHT LAWS!!!
The interesting thing about this entire FIASCO with "Battlestar Galactica" (caused by Universal Studios DELIBERATE MISMANAGEMENT of the property for decades) is that when they were finally backed into a corner by Richard Hatch and the fanbase to do SOMETHING with this property, what they ultimately did was PLASTER the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name onto a "STAR TREK SEQUEL SERIES." The implication here being, no matter how much the LAWS OF SUPPLY & DEMAND call for a continuation of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES", the POLITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE at Universal Studios holding this property HOSTAGE, WILL NEVER YIELD.
I have no doubt in my mind that Universal Studios HATES the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES", just as I have no doubt in my mind that Universal Studios LOVES Paramount Pictures "STAR TREK FRANCHISE." The CUT & PASTE JOB of "Star Trek" CLICHES characterizing Ronald D. Moore's production holds my conclusions above VERY TRUE, just as its VERY TRUE that this is the mark of a LAZY CORPORATION who allowed an EGOMANICAL NEOPHYTE of a former "Star Trek Staff Writer" to do the DIRTY WORK for them. Ronald D. Moore's production called "Battlestar Galactica" would FIT over any of Rick Berman's "Star Trek" series like a sheet of TRACING PAPER being laid on top of a perfectly matched figure underneath it.
Ronald D. Moore went into this project NOT KNOWING JACK SHIT about "Battlestar Galactica", yet he SURE AS HELL had the "STAR TREK WRITERS BIBLE" with him when he conceived this DERIVATIVE TRASH HEAP of a television production. WITHOUT A DOUBT, "Six" would not exist were it not for the prior existence of "Seven Of Nine." WITHOUT A DOUBT, Ronald D. Moore's characters are SEXUALLY PERVERTED, ALCOHOLIC versions of STARFLEET OFFICERS. WITHOUT A DOUBT, without the prior performance of Patrick Stewart as an angst ridden Jean Luc-Picard as a blueprint, Edward JAmes Olmos's Commander Adama would have been written and performed quite differently. WITHOUT A DOUBT, had the cliched method of casting and writing ensemble character pieces not been established by Rick Berman, and endlessly REGURGITATED by former "Star Trek" staff writers on their own; RONALD D. MOORE WOULD HAVE HAD NO BLUEPRINT TO GO BY.
Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel follows the "STAR TREK WRITERS BIBLE" TO THE LETTER with this series. Not so much as the SLIGHTEST DEVIATION from "STAR TREK CLICHES" is RISKED by Ronald D. Moore and Universal Studios. The heavy handed preaching of Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek" universe has been TRANSPOSED by Ronald D. Moore into a THINLY DISGUISED RE-TELLING of Gene Roddenberry's MORALS & VALUES. To such an extent, that the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" is still waiting in the wings to be revived.
Universal Studios FAILED to respond to the LAWS OF SUPPLY & DEMAND, because the "Battlestar Galactica" title on this ABOMINATION wasn't enough. A few transplanted character names WASN'T ENOUGH. Universal Studios allowed their "STAR TREK ENVY" and HATRED of the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES" to cloud their judgement ( a normal occurrance for them) and produce an INSTANTLY FORGETTABLE television series that is being kept alive ONLY by "JACK-ASS MARKETING." However, as being THROWN TO THE WOLVES week after week by "SPONGEBOB" reruns can testify, Ronald D. Moore's series may survive just fine in the FANTASY LAND of Universal Studios MARKETING MACHINE, but will be CUT TO RIBBONS in the REAL WORLD and SAD REALITIES of the overnight ratings.
I have no doubt that CORPORATE HYSTERIA and UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS duped Universal executives into believing that Ronald D. Moore was producing and writing something original. Not surprising, since Universal executives ROUTINELY cut themselves off from the REALITIES of the real world, and wall themselves into a self imposed fantasy land where their judgement results in no errors being made. In the most severe examples of a television series produced by Universal Studios failing in the ratings and ultimately being cancelled can testify, Universal executives STILL PLACE NO BLAME ON THEMSELVES in even the most DIRE CIRCUMSTANCES of CORPORATE ERROR. Universal executives "pass the buck", and point the finger at the general public when they should instead be looking in the mirror.
At one point, Ronald D. Moore had the nerve to say that he "refused to make television based on marketing surveys." Yet, Ronald D. Moore is MORE THAN WILLING to about face and make CORRUPT TELEVISION that satisfies every INTERNAL, POLITICAL, and CORRUPT CORPORATE AGENDA that Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel has. Ronald D. Moore runs a "DRIVE-THRU WINDOW" for every POLITICAL AGENDA Universal Studios COOKS UP at a WHIM:
Ronald D. Moore: "You want a 'Star Trek' sequel series? NO PROBLEM!! STEP RIGHT UP!!! You want the 'REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES' TRASHED? NO PROBLEM!! STEP RIGHT UP!!! You ENVY 'STAR TREK?' NO PROBLEM!! STEP RIGHT UP!!!"
Ronald D. Moore rings up Universal Studios orders and brown bags their orders as fast as he can take the orders!! I'm sure Ronald D. Moore even has "POLITICAL COMBO MEAL DEALS" for Universal Studios by now!!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to recite the opening PROLOGUE of Ronald D. Moore's series called "Battlestar Galactica" JUST ONE MORE TIME!!!
"SPACE......THE FINAL FRONTIER.......THESE ARE THE VOYAGES OF THE STARSHIP: GALACTICA!! HER ONGOING MISSION.....TO EXPLORE STRANGE NEW WORLDS....TO SEEK OUT NEW LIFE...AND NEW CIVILIZATIONS....TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE......"
