Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

Talent in the television industry depends on the individual no doubt. The way Ronald D. Moore and David Eick were bragging about their SUPPOSED talent, one would think that the two of them would have constructed an entire production company empire by now. Instead, "Trekkie Star: Galactica" is LIMPING into production of a mere THREE additional episodes. Hardly a second season, just as Ronald D. Moore's first 13 episodes could HARDLY be called a first season.
The best way to illustrate Ronald D. Moore's LACK OF TALENT, is to contrast him against someone who DOES HAVE TALENT. In the almost 20 years Ronald D. Moore has been in this business, he has nothing to show for it except being a "Star Trek" staff writer for an endless number of years. He never progressed beyond that in his solo work, and there is NO INDICATION that he ever will.
In the same amount of time however, Stephen J. Cannell progressed from selling spec scripts to "Adam -12", to selling spec scripts to other tv series, to being a top writer on "Toma", to developing "Rockford Files", to developing "Tenspeed & Brownshoe", to developing "The Quest", to developing "Greatest American Hero", to developing "A-Team", to developing "Riptide", to developing "Hardcastle & McCormick", to developing "Renegade", to developing "Silk Stalkings", to developing the "Commish", to developing "21 Jump Street", to developing "Hunter", to eventually having his own television production empire with thousands of people working for him. Cannell's production company ended up being the third largest in Hollywood.
Why hasn't Ronald D. Moore accomplished this in the same amount of time? Moore has had close to two decades to accomplish that. So what happened? Why doesn't Ronald D. Moore's BOASTING match up with his actual career status right now? Maybe it's because Ronald D. Moore ISN'T AS VERSATILE A WRITER as Stephen J. Cannell is. Stephen J. Cannell has the ability to leave a previous project behind him everytime he tackles a new project. Ronald D. Moore on the other hand, TAKES "STAR TREK" WITH HIM EVERYWHERE HE GOES. Ronald D. Moore REINTERPRETS and REGURGITATES "STAR TREK" on every new project he tries to tackle.
This may seem convenient and the easy way out for Ronald D. Moore at the time. But what Ronald D. Moore is really doing to himself and his career, is IMMOBILIZING HIMSELF PROFESSIONALLY. Because of his UNWILLINGNESS to leave "Star Trek" behind him, Ronald D. Moore is CLOSING DOORS on himself that could expand his career into new directions. There is nothing worse than TYPECASTING YOURSELF as a CLICHED "STAR TREK" WRITER, regardless of what new project you tackle.
The painful truth is, Ronald D. Moore is not as successful as Stephen J. Cannell, because he is NOT as talented as Stephen J. Cannell. Ronald D. Moore and David Eick can BOAST all that they want to. The BLUNT TRUTH is, Moore and Eick will GO NO FURTHER IN THIS BUSINESS than where they are right now. CLICHED and FORMULAIC writers and producers get exactly what they deserve in Hollywood. PERMANENT IMMOBILITY and DOORS OF OPPORTUNITY CLOSED FOREVER.
Since the Sci-Fi Channel's publicity machine for Ronald D. Moore and David Eick HAS RUN DRY, we are beginning to see the truth about these two individuals. Professionally, THEY CAN'T STAND UP ON THEIR OWN TWO FEET.
