Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

You have to hand it to Ronald D. Moore. He left no stone unturned when he RIPPED OFF "Star Trek." Exactly as they are in "Star Trek: Enterprise", the shoulder patches in Ronald D. Moore's "Crappy Star: Galactica" production are round, WRITTEN IN ENGLISH, and display the ship's name on the shoulder patches. This is yet another example of the ZERO IMAGINATION and RECKLESS ASSEMBLING of a production which met Universal/Sci-Fi Channel's IMMEDIATE POLITICAL NEEDS of extending their ownership of the "Galactica" property for yet another untold number of years of IRRSPONSIBLE MISMANAGEMENT.
Ronald D. Moore's characters supposedly never heard of Earth, yet they use "21st Century Earth English" on their shoulder patches. Ronald D. Moore's characters SPEAK PERFECT ENGLISH, yet they SUPPOSEDLY never heard of Earth. Ronald D. Moore put so LITTLE THOUGHT into this TRAIN WRECK of a production of his, that all of his EARLY, BAD DECISIONS are coming back to haunt him now. It would have been passable for Ronald D. Moore to use "Star Trek" AS HIS BLUEPRINT, if the characters in his production had some ties to Earth. Since they DON'T, Ronald D. Moore's production comes across as a "FLEA MARKETED HODGEPODGE" of an endless series of BAD, CLICHED ideas CLASHING AGAINST one another.
So many BAD DECISIONS WERE MADE in the early stages of Ronald D. Moore's production, that any illusion his production is supposed to convey of being a credible space fantasy, has been OBLITERATED. Ronald D. Moore claims his characters have nothing to do with Earth, claims his series takes place in some far off galaxy, yet the POOR DECISIONS made in the production design of this mess DESTROYS Ronald D. Moore's claims. Shoulder patches written in English, Commander Adama's eyeglasses, present day wall clocks on full display, the interior designs of spaceships looking like borrowed set pieces from "Airport 1977", all CONSPIRE AGAINST Ronald D. Moore's claims of a "far off galaxy" in his production.
Whether it be the USUAL BUDGET LIMITATIONS of Sci-Fi Channel, or the FINITE IMAGINATIONS of Ronald D. Moore's production crew, or both; Ronald D. Moore's production resembles present day Earth in every conceivable way, tragically inaugurating an era in televised Science Fiction where VISUAL IMAGINATION is all but lost.
I doubt it was necessary for the characters in Ronald D. Moore's production to be sporting shoulder patches on their uniforms. It was necessary however, (and I suspect); that Ronald D. Moore LIFT as many visual ideas from "Star Trek" as possible in order to cut down the amount of time Ronald D. Moore would have to wait in getting on the air. Moore was so CUT THROAT about getting on the air, that he FAILED to give his production SUFFICIENT PRE-PRODUCTION TIME in developing original, visual concepts. Thus, we have Rick Berman's "Star Trek" TRANSFERRED OVER to Ronald D. Moore's production. In all honesty, Ronald D. Moore went on the air a YEAR TOO SOON....AND HIS PRODUCTION (from the lack of sufficient pre-production time) SHOWS IT.
In the case of the shoulder patches, Ronald D. Moore didn't even try for a patch shape other than a circle. He went with the TRIED & TRUE "Star Trek" circular, shoulder patch shapes. How about a diamond, or a half moon, or even a triangle? "Battlestar Galactica" written on these shoulder patches in English also adds to the ABSURDITY. This situation is so PATHETIC that Ronald D. Moore wouldn't even be able to get himself out of it with one of his TRIED & TRUE temporal anomaly storylines.
