Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

In this era of every Science Fiction television series being released on DVD, Sci-Fi Channel could still pull in viewers and Science Fiction fans by the millions, if the channel were owned and managed by the right people. Sci-Fi Channel is a staggering example of wasted broadcast time devoted to the SCHIZOPHRENIC BROADCAST WHIMS of Bonnie Hammer and parent corporation NBC-Universal. This is a channel owned and operated by RECKLESS INDIVIDUALS who know NOTHING of Science Fiction, and warp & twist the definition of Science Fiction in order to define whatever they pull out of the USA film vaults. This is a channel WITHOUT a core premise to operate under. This is a channel SUFFERING from BAD MANAGEMENT. This is a channel that DOES NOTHING to reflect the spirit of televised Science Fiction and the Science Fiction genre in general.
If anything, the HOSTILITY Bonnie Hammer and her staff have expressed towards the Science Fiction community since day one has resulted in the most POORLY MANAGED, BASIC BROADCAST CHANNEL in history. A channel that spits at any opportunity to improve the quality of itself, or lean towards the type of programming the "Sci-Fi Channel" logo claims to represent. Bonnie Hammer has a background managing the MELODRAMATIC CLAPTRAP of the "World Wrestling Federation", and there is no indication that she stopped this style of management when she took over the Sci-Fi Channel. Since managing the USA Network as well, Bonnie Hammer has done NOTHING to improve the quality of that network either. If the best Bonnie Hammer can do is dust off the "Kojak" brand name from the 1970's, and turn it into yet another indistinguishable cop show from every other cop show on the air, as opposed to the distinctive identity that the "REAL KOJAK SERIES" had with Telly Savalas in the lead; then the USA Network will also be heading down the ONE WAY PATH OF SHIT that Hammer led Sci-Fi Channel down.
Putting it bluntly, Bonnie Hammer has done NOTHING to improve the quality of the two networks she is RESPONSIBLE for. Her mark in basic cable management is characterized by MELODRAMATIC BLANDNESS that fails to carve distinctive identities for both Sci-Fi Channel and the USA Network. Bonnie Hammer's presence as manager for both these channels reflects NBC-Universal's ZERO ASPIRATIONS and EXPECTATIONS they have for these channels. If NBC-Universal really wanted these channels to aspire to some lofty goals, I'm sure they would have hired someone BETTER to do the job. As it is, since NBC-Universal is content to have both channels LIMPING along on "ANTI-IMAGINATIVE LIFE SUPPORT" from one day to the next, then Bonnie Hammer's continued status as an NBC-Universal employee is EASY TO EXPLAIN. Since both Sci-Fi Channel and the USA Network are LOW on the priority list of NBC-Universal, they picked any LOW GRADE WITCH to keep both channels LIMPING ALONG.
There is a VAST RESOURCE of televised Science Fiction heritage just waiting to be opened up. Since Bonnie Hammer and NBC-Universal DON'T KNOW JACK-SHIT about the genre, any possibilities leaning in that direction WILL NOT BE REALIZED. At the very least, many Science Fiction personalities belong on Sci-Fi Channel, hosting a show or two. Kerry O'Quinn and Norman Jacobs, the founders of "Starlog" magazine. Harlan Ellison, David Gerrold, John Dykstra, family members of Irwin Allen and Rod Serling. Ask Bonnie Hammer or NBC-Universal who these individuals are, and they WOULDN'T be able to tell you. Because they are in the WRONG PROFESSION. Managing a Science Fiction channel is as BEYOND the capabilites of Bonnie Hammer and NBC-Universal as you can get.
Any possibilites or opportunites Sci-Fi Channel may have had, has been OBLITERATED by Bonnie Hammer's and NBC-Universal's endless THIRST for COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, HORROR PROGRAMMING that is POORLY MADE, digging any movie of ANY SUBJECT MATTER out of the USA film vaults and DUMPING IT into the Sci-Fi Channel's schedule, the BLATANT & OBVIOUS HATRED Bonnie Hammer and NBC-Universal have for the "Battlestar Galactica" property, and the ENDLESS PARADE of late-night infomercials on Sci-Fi Channel which are, ironically, MORE ENTERTAINING than Bonnie Hammer's programming HABITS.
If Bonnie Hammer and NBC-Universal have the NERVE to call their network Sci-Fi Channel, then they should start behaving like it is a Science Fiction channel. As it is now, is is an "ANTI-SCIENCE FICTION CHANNEL" as without a CORE PREMISE and CLEAR MISSION STATEMENT as any example of BAD MANAGEMENT can UNLEASH on it. Sci-Fi Channel LIMPS ALONG daily, with its "Star Trek" RIP-OFF series titled "Battlestar Galactica" POLLUTING Friday nights, endless re-broadcasts of "Viva: Rock Vegas", commercial breaks eroding away more and more of actual programming, and Bonnie Hammer endlessly renewing FAILED television series (Ronald D. Moore's "Sybil Star: Galactica").
Bonnie Hammer and NBC-Universal have a responsibility to their shareholders, alright. A responsibility that apparently MANDATES BAD MANAGEMENT to meet those responsibilites.
