Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

When a television series resorts to drastic measures in casting guest stars, the handwriting is on the wall for the series demise. The "Brady Bunch" was so worn out by the time they cast Robbie Rist as cousin "Oliver", viewers didn't give a shit anymore about the "Brady Bunch", and didn't give a shit that Robbie Rist had no chemistry whatsoever with the veteran cast members. Why? the viewers weren't watching anymore. When the "Partridge Family" cast that young kid as the next door neighbor in the final season, viewers didn't give a shit anymore about "Partridge Family" or the fact that this kid (like Robbie Rist) had no chemistry whatsoever with the other cast members. Why? The viewers weren't watching anymore.
The one thing I do like about Ronald D. Moore's "Star Crap: Galactica", is that it has reached the point of being tired and worn out creatively without having to subject the audience to 4 or 5 excruciating seasons. Moore's series is a DEAD DUCK after only 13 episodes are in the can, and WAS a DEAD DUCK when the pilot was first being broadcast. Yes Sir!! The CREATIVE DRAIN which took the "Brady Bunch" and "Partridge Family" 4 years to reach, has hit Ronald D. Moore's series before, during, and after its FIRST SEASON!!
This brings us to the casting of Lucy Lawless (Xena-Warrior Princess) as a guest star in an upcoming episode which may or MAY NOT reach the airwaves!! Not that Ronald D. Moore's cast members ever had chemistry towards each other in the first place, but Lucy Lawless being cast in this SHIP WRECK points to the RECKLESSNESS and THOUGHTLESSNESS in casting which has plagued Ronald D. Moore's series since day one. This casting decision was obviously one of CONVENIENCE for David Eick. "Cast the people you know, can get a hold of quickly,....and who cares if viewers will automatically think of "Xena" if they see Lucy Lawless guest starring in this thing!!" If David Eick had never produced "Xena", Lucy Lawless would never have been cast. This follows the trend of all Universal Studios employees who are LAZY AS HELL....Take the easy way out every single time!! Which is why Sci-Fi Channel RAIDS the USA film vaults every 2 seconds, for example.
Ronald D. Moore's series, never having had a distinctive identity in the first place, continues down the path of "no identity in particular" by furthering the trend of throwing everything but the KITCHEN SINK into this series: recyled "Star Trek" scripts and ideas, recycled ideas from other movies and tv shows, and DERIVATIVE PROPS & SET DESIGN; all converging into an UNINSPIRED, and DERIVATIVE visual smorgasbord of NO ORIGINALITY...We now have the THOUGHTLESS CASTING of Lucy Lawless into this mess for no constructive purpose other than its handy convenience for David Eick.
What's next in the casting if Moore's series survives 5 more episodes? The CHICKS from "Cleopatra-2525?" The CHICKS from "Scary Movie?" If it's an opportunity to substitute MORE SEX for PLOT, Ronald D. Moore will round up as many CHICKS as he can!!
