Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

Those of us who have slogged through the "deleted scenes" section of "Saga of a Star World" on the "Galactica" DVD set know what a painful experience this is. In addition to confirming what we have always feared about Universal Studios LEGENDARY NEGLECT of the original film negatives; ("Saga's" deleted scenes are in horrible shape), what deleted scenes actually showed up on the DVD set is a comedy of errors as to what is still missing!!
1) STILL MISSING - Shortly after "Omega" says "We're the only surviving Battlestar", followed by "Col. Tigh's" "Oh, my God"; the camera pans and shows Starbuck entering the bridge with Athena following. It is here that "Tigh" shows "Starbuck" the footage of the "Cylon" attack.
2) STILL MISSING - Additional dialogue on the bridge between Adama and Tigh when Greenbean reports in from his Viper and reveals that "Delta Tech Scanner shows no sign of Cylon pursuit." What is included in this deleted scene still isn't all of it. There is still more dialogue between Adama and Tigh THAT NEVER MADE IT onto the DVD set.
3) STILL MISSING - Additional dialogue between Starbuck and Cassiopia during their first conversation on the shuttlecraft. After Starbuck says "no wonder those little buggars are such good card players", there is still more dialogue THAT NEVER MADE IT onto the DVD set.
4) STILL MISSING - Additional dialogue during the "Council of 12" scene when Anton and Uri discuss Adama's desire to retire. Dialogue STILL MISSING has Anton and Uri moving the direction of the conversation to the planet Carillon and why they should go there. Dialogue that NEVER MADE IT onto the "Galactica" DVD set.
5) STILL MISSING - Serina and Apollo on Carillon. Serina tells Apollo that she saw a woman's husband die in her arms.
6) STILL MISSING - The alternate footage of the escape from Carillon. The footage we are all familiar with, (as directed by Alan J. Levi), has personnel escaping from Carillon in their dress uniforms. When the sequence was originally shot by Richard A. Colla, personnel were in their regular battle uniforms.
7) STILL MISSING - Additional moments between Adama and Athena in his quarters, while Athena comforts her father over resigning.
STILL MISSING - Shortly after Boxey is captured by Ovions on Carillon, there is additional footage of Apollo, Serina, and Jolly being led underground by host Ovions to join Boxey. They even make their way across that bridge slowly as they are led to Boxey. The same bridge they ran back across later while being chased by Cylons.
9) STILL MISSING - Lt. Zac has a run-in with a nurse aboard the "Galactica" before he begs Starbuck to let him go on Apollos' patrol.
10) STILL MISSING - Additional dialogue between Starbuck and Boomer while they are listening to the "Android Sisters." The deleted scene on the DVD set still isn't the entire conversation.
11) STILL MISSING - More footage of the holocaust survivors on the "Gemini Freighter" while they are being inspected by Apollo, Starbuck, and Boomer. What deleted footage did show up on the DVD set STILL ISN'T ALL OF IT.
12) STILL MISSING - More footage of Serina on "Caprica" while reporting on the armistice signing.
13) STILL MISSING - More dialogue between Baltar and Adar while "toasting to peace", which NEVER MADE IT onto the DVD set.
14) STILL MISSING - More footage of Starbuck and Boomer wandering around the Carillon casino.
15) STILL MISSING - Moore dialogue between Starbuck and Athena on Carillon.
The TRAGEDY of the "Galactica DVD Set", is that judging by the condition of what deleted footage did show up, any chance of Richard Colla and Alan Levi doing a DIRECTOR'S CUT of the pilot IS NOW AN IMPOSSIBILITY. Universal Studios has PERSONALLY SEEN TO IT that the original film negative to "Saga of a Star World", (including the lost footage) will be too far gone to do a digital clean-up. As it is now, Universal Studios will only be able to produce "Galactica" DVD sets for another five years at the most. After that, the original negatives to "Battlestar Galactica" will erode away forever.
We also don't know in what order the deleted scenes are supposed to appear in the pilot. As they are presented in the DVD set, Universal Studios NEVER TELLS US where each scene is supposed to fit, which scene goes where, etc. Chuck it up to more BAD DECISION MAKING on the part of Universal Studios!!
