1998 was not a good year for New Line Cinema. They blew $70 million on a remake of "Lost In Space" that not only PISSED OFF the fanbase of the 1960's tv series, but also failed to bring a large audience overall into the movie theaters. This is where New Line Cinema's stupidity came to an abrupt halt, however. At least New Line Cinema knew when to quit. They knew that they had a major turkey on their hands, and went NO FURTHER in trying to RAM the damn thing down the public's throat. New Line Cinema did the respectable thing and let "Lost In Space" die a quiet death.....
THIS IS WHERE THE BOUNDLESS STUPIDITY OF UNIVERSAL STUDIOS ENTERS THE PICTURE
On the disaster scale, Ronald D. Moore's "BattleCrap: Galactica" ranks right up there with New Line Cinema's "Lost In Space" movie. Unfortunately, Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel is not endowed nor blessed with the same sort of CORPORATE WISDOM that New Line Cinema has. Ronald D. Moore's "BATTLECRAP: GALACTICA" is obviously a MAJOR TURKEY of a production that has not bonded with any demographic group, or casual television watcher. This hasn't stopped Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel from continuing to TRY and RAM this production down the public's throat.
Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel has a different corporate philosophy than New Line Cinema, and IT IS NOT A NORMAL ONE. Whereas New Line Cinema admits defeat and quietly buries that which didn't go over well with the public, Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel KEEPS INVESTING MONEY in its FAILURES, and if the public doesn't like it; blames the public for not liking it, AND OPENLY ATTACKS THE PUBLIC ON THE INTERNET. By hook or by crook, Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel is HELL BENT DETERMINED that the public is going to like Ronald D. Moore's "STAR CRAP: GALACTICA" SERIES. If the public doesn't, Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel WILL KEEP ATTACKING AND ARGUING WITH THE PUBLIC OVER THE INTERNET until they see the light and see things the way that Universal Studios CORPORATE MANAGEMENT wants them to see things.
Somewhere along the way, Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel BRAINWASHED themselves into believing that the marketplace is a DICTATORSHIP, where the general public can be BRAINWASHED and FORCED into liking something THEY REALLY DON'T LIKE. Maybe this is why Ronald D. Moore's "STAR CRAP: GALACTICA" series IS ON ITS LAST LEG. "STAR CRAP: GALACTICA" is ALMOST DEAD, because Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel THOUGHT that they could BRAINWASH THE PUBLIC into embracing their INNERMOST POLITICAL AGENDAS attached to "Battlestar Galactica" THAT HAVE BEEN IN PLACE SINCE 1979.
As a member of the general public, I can speak from experience when I say that the general public.....
DOESN'T GIVE A FLYING RAT'S ASS ABOUT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS POLITICAL AGENDAS
