As Universal Studios ownership of Battlestar Galactica reaches its 27th year of "CORPORATE DO-NOTHING INEPTITUDE", the only question that can be asked regarding this POINTLESS OWNERSHP is "Why?" If Ronald D. Moore's production aptly christened "GINO" is the best that Universal Studios can show for utilizing the Battlestar Galactica brand name in some capacity, then it can be concluded that Universal Studios NEVER DID, and NEVER SHALL, have any LEGITIMATE USE for the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name.
The Universal Studios Legal Dept. is one of those pointless entities that FAILS to justify its existence with funding as much as the United States Homeland Security office FAILS to justify its existence. It was Universal Legal that WARPED & TWISTED existing copyright laws into somehow justifying the BRUTAL MUTILATION of the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name in the GINO production with RAPES, MURDERS, BABY KILLINGS, STOLEN "STAR TREK" IDEAS, and HOOKERS that call themselves Cylons.
Universal Studios doesn't like to give up ownership of the copyrights THEY HAVE NO USE FOR. Thus, we have 27 years of Universal Studios not doing a constructive DAMN THING with the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name, combined with the last three years of the GINO production which CAN ALSO be categorized as NOT DOING a constructive DAMN THING with the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name.
In their ARROGANCE, Universal Studios has proven themselves not only to be a HATER of all things "Battlestar Galactica", but also an on-line, Internet OPPONENT of the GENERAL PUBLIC who continue to support the "REAL 1978 GALACTICA SERIES." As Universal Studios RAMMED "GINO" into existence, they also POLLUTED the Internet "Galactica" boards with every SLIME INFESTED STEALTH MARKETER who could keep the FAILED "GINO" tv series on the air. "GINO" is not "Battlestar Galactica", and there is the rub. How can Universal Studios DO "Battlestar Galactica" YET NOT DO "Battlestar Galactica" at the same time? Universal Legal came up with the rather DERANGED SOLUTION of merely FRAMING the "Battlestar Galactica" title around a SCHIZOPHRENIC HODGEPODGE of RAPES, BABY KILLINGS, MURDERS, and SOFT CORE SMUT.
Ronald D. Moore was hired less to do a constructive revamping of "Battlestar Galactica" than he was hired to merely THROW TOGETHER a 15 minute SOUFFLE which would serve no other purpose than to PRESERVE Universal Studios ownership of the name "Battlestar Galactica." The contents of Ronald D. Moore's series are as HOLLOW as the HOLLOW CLAIMS of greatness being made by the Universal Studios STEALTH MARKETERS. It would not be any more farfetched to call Ronald D. Moore's SMORGASBORD of STOLEN IDEAS "Little House On the Prairie", "The Waltons", "Match Game", or the "$1.98 Beauty Contest." Perhaps what sticks out more than anything else about Ronald D. Moore's series, is the OBVIOUS appearance it has of being a POLITICAL BUSINESS DEAL. A TOOL for PRESERVING Universal Studios ownership of the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name. The LACK of any entertainment value in GINO bears this out. Bits, pieces, scraps, and chunks of Universal Studios required political and business NECESSITIES spread out over a HOLLOW FRAMEWORK of a television series calling itself "Battlestar Galactica."
As Universal Studios OPPOSES "Battlestar Galactica", they also OPPOSE the GENERAL PUBLIC who support this 1978 series. Universal Studios is the only studio in Hollywood that actually HIRES stealth marketers to ARGUE with, and NAME CALL the GENERAL PUBLIC. Universal Studios is DYSFUNCTIONAL, ABNORMAL, OFF ITS ROCKER, UNHINGED, MEAN SPIRITED, and the most NOTORIOUS provider of Prime Time CRAP on both broadcast and cable television.
The fall out from all of this of course, is that GINO is in DEEP SHIT ratings wise. To the extent that the Sci-Fi Channel STEALTH MARKETERS posing as GINO fans are BITCHING and MOANING all over the www.Scifi.com/galactica board not only about GINO's rating problems, but also about Colonial Fleets recent REJECTION of GINO, and the ever growing HOSTILITY against GINO within "Galactica" fandom. This is a production that will either COLLAPSE under the weight of the POLITICAL GOALS the Universal/Sci-Fi Channel corporation set for it, or it will COLLAPSE under the ECONOMICS of continuing to try and do a a FAILED TELEVISION SERIES with a $1.5 million budget.
Universal Studios started off by OPPOSING the 1978 "Battlestar Galactica" series. Then they OPPOSED its fans. Now ironically, Universal Studios is OPPOSING themselves by continuing to finance a series that is HARMING THEM financially. Do POLITICS mean this much to Universal Studios? Where the COMMON SENSE involved in CANCELLING a FAILED TV SERIES will be continually SHOVED TO THE SIDE?
