Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

Perhaps one of the most startling things about Ron Moore's mini series and 13 episode series, is the lack of imaginative costume design that hits you (the viewer) like a ton of bricks. There was no excuse for this production even being made, or wasting perfectly good film to shoot the damn thing on. One of the many things that Ronald D. Moore FAILED to learn in college, is the importance of IMAGINATION in visual arts. The LOW STANDARDS in costuming which obviously drove Ron Moore's production, actually PLUNGED BELOW the LOW STANDARDS in costuming seen in other Sci-Fi Channel productions. The lack of imaginative costume design in Ron Moore's production is so startling, the cast is literally wearing hand me down rags and "odds & ends" collected from dumpsters around Vancouver, California, and Ron Moore's basement. If anything, Ron Moore's production will be remembered as being the most startling example of LACKING IMAGINATION ever demonstrated by a television production crew.
As a viewer, you sit there watching this STARTLING PIECE OF CRAP of a television production and think to yourself, "Universal/Sci-Fi Channel gave up the delightful imagination of the 'REAL 1978 Galactica Series' for this ?? The POOR QUALITY of Ron Moore's production proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Universal Studios executives are either drug addicts, or HATE the '1978 Galactica Series' SO MUCH, they would gladly jettison its VISUAL IMAGINATION for the FIRST NO TALENT HACK (Ronald D. Moore) to come along.
If Ron Moore's production did have a costume designer, this WILL BE her/his LAST JOB in the industry. One of the unfortunate consequences of the technical developments and wide range availability of CGI technology, is that Sci-Fi Channel has gotten its hands on this technology, giving birth to a new era of "Televised B Movies"; characterized by NON-EXISTENT IMAGINATION IN COSTUME DESIGN, PRODUCTION DESIGN, and ART DIRECTION. Ron Moore's production ushers in a new era in programming that the public SHOULD BE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT. "Televised B Movies" that are as DISPOSABLE as a screwed up "Drive-Thru" order at "Burger King."
Ronald D. Moore is really the first "Television B Movie Producer" in the era of CGI technology. Oh, there have been earlier "B Movies" broadcast on Sci-Fi Channel. These movies however, were produced by producers even lesser known than Ronald D. Moore (if that is even possible). Moore is the first "Semi-Known" "Television B Movie Producer." In all honesty, when these "Television B Movies" on Sci-Fi Channel begin looking like "Mish Mashed Hodgepodges" of a thousand movies and tv shows that have come before; it's time for Sci-Fi Channel and Ronald D. Moore to get into ANOTHER LINE OF WORK.
There is NOT ONE original, costume idea in the entire Ronald D. Moore production. NOT ONE. I guess Ronald D. Moore feels that a little bit of "Babylon 5" can go a long way in his production. As well as a litle bit of "Space: Above & Beyond", "Andromeda", "Star Trek", etc.
There is not one profound, artistic reason why this Ron Moore production needed to be made. It's STAGGERING LACK OF IMAGINATION IN ALL VISUAL DEPARTMENTS closes the argument that the televised Science Fiction landscape would have remained unaltered and not impacted if Sci-Fi Channel and Ron moore had never went to the trouble at all. In televised Science Fiction, THE LACK OF IMAGINATION IS A SIN. The sooner Ronald D. Moore LEARNS THIS, the better off the public will be.
