Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

The "Rick Berman Star Trek Machine" has been in operation for a long time. During the second and third seasons of "Star Trek-The Next Generation", Rick Berman devised a set of extremely rigid and finite parameters that would be adhered to when not only writing "Star Trek-The Next Generation" scripts, but also when devising "Star Trek" sequel series. These parameters of producing and writing "Star Trek" not only dictated what viewers would see from 1989 to 2004, but these parameters would also be used by former "Star Trek" staff writers when they left the "Rick Berman Nest" and moved on to their own independent productions.
Former "Star Trek" staff writers are not known for intellectual versatility when tackling projects on their own. They tackle a project based upon how they were trained to tackle a project when they were "Star Trek" staff writers. There are extremely rigid parameters that they continue to adhere to when tackling new projects. Not surprisingly, these new projects emulate "Star Trek" ways of doing things. From the overall conception of a format, to similar modes of thinking when devising the primary characters, to "Star Trek-esque" decisions being made in the types of scripts that would be developed.
In a way, Ronald D. Moore cannot be blamed for developing "Trekkie Star: Galactica" into a template of prior "Star Trek" sequel series. This quite simply, is how he was trained as a former "Star Trek" staff writer to tackle new projects. What Ronald D. Moore CAN be blamed for however, is not admitting that he is doing it. Universal Studios/Sci-Fi Channel and Ronald D. Moore expect a great deal of "suspension of rational thinking" from the public when viewing their "Trekkie Star: Galactica" production. They honestly expect the public to not notice the fact that "Trekkie Star: Galactica" is literally a "Star Trek" sequel series hiding behind the "Galactica" brand name.
It was a TRAGIC MISTAKE to hire Ronald D. Moore for any project called "Battlestar Galactica." His LACK OF VERSATILITY as a writer guaranteed that any project called "Battlestar Galactica" would actually be yet another journey into the "Federation" universe of "Starfleet Command." Moore has worked in this universe for so long, he mentally just can't remove himself from it. Despite vehement protests from Universal/Sci-Fi Channel and Ronald D. Moore himself, his latest project is nothing more than "Star Trek" using the "Battlestar Galactica" brand name.
