Life could be this beautiful without NBC-TV in it.

George Lucas urged 20th Century Fox to sue Universal Studios over "Battlestar Galactica" back in 1978. Though a judge found that "Battlestar Galactica" was different enough from "Star Wars" to exist peacefully next to George Lucas's epic, Lucas apparently was not happy with the ruling. It is believed that 20th Century Fox and Universal ultimately settled out of court, with Universal giving up a large chunk of coin to keep Fox happy.
Now, 26 years later; though Universal Studios did a project called "Battlestar Galactica" for Sci-Fi Channel, it is OBVIOUSLY not "Battlestar Galactica." NOT BY A LONG SHOT. If anything, this project that Universal Studios has the AUDACITY to call "Battlestar Galactica" clearly has its roots in all of the "STAR TREK SEQUEL SERIES" produced by Rick Berman. From overall format conception, to overall feel and motivations of the characters, right down to the "STAR TREK-esque" PRODUCTION DESIGN.
Universal Studios probably feels that it is preferable to PISS OFF the legal department of Paramount Pictures Corp. than it is to go another round with George Lucas in the courtroom. Thus, this Ron Moore production RESEMBLES "STAR TREK" more than it resembles "STAR WARS."
On top of all of this, Universal Studios TURNS DOWN YET AGAIN, another offer by Tom DeSanto to do a CONTINUATION of "Battlestar Galactica." I think George Lucas has everything to do with Universal Studios ANTI-CONTINUATION STANCE with "Battlestar Galactica." Quite frankly, I think Universal Studios IS AFRAID of George Lucas, and just doesn't want to go down another confrontational path with him. So to make peace, I believe Universal Studios is KISSING GEORGE LUCAS'S BUTT:
Universal Studios: "Oh yes, George!! We won't do a continuation of 'Battlestar Galactica' if you don't want us to. We'll just borrow bits and pieces from 'Star Trek' and 'Babylon 5' for our reimagining of the property. Will that make you happy, George?"
Now, this is all speculation of course and I could be wrong. But it all MAKES SENSE AND FITS TOGETHER, DOESN'T IT?
