FF7 FAQ:
- How to make Don Corneo choose Cloud:
- For your dress, pick something that "feels soft" and that "shimmers."
- Go to the restaurant, get Today's Special, and you'll get a pharmacy coupon. Go to the pharmacy, exchange the ticket for a digestive medicine. Give the digestive medicine to the woman in the bathroom in the bar.
- Talk to the pacing man toward the south. Talk to him enough and he'll give you a membership card.
- There's shop toward the top right of the lower section in the Wallmarket whose owner is very curious about what's in the vending machine in the Inn. Pay for a stay at the Inn, then get the 200 gil item and bring it to him.
- Go to the gym and win the squatting competition.
- With your membership card, go to the Honeybee Inn. Take the &$#% Room. Make sure to talk to Honey Bee before she leaves. Also go to the dressing room and ask them to do your make up.
- How to date Yuffie:
- Do not buy a flower from Aeris.
- When Jessie asks you about the train mission and the ID stuff, say that you're "looking forward to it."
- Don't talk to Tifa in the bar after the first mission. During the time you're forced to talk to her and are presented with options, pick "...Sorry." Then further ignore her the next morning.
- During the second mission, deliberately get caught during the train's lockdown.
- When Cloud is about to fall after battling Air Buster, respond "be strong" to Barret when he asks you if you're all right.
- During the mini game when Aeris is running from the soldiers, always ask her to wait and push the wrong barrel each time.
- When Aeris asks you if Tifa is your girlfriend, answer "yeah, that's right."
- When you're in the playgound with Aeris, say that you will "take her home."
- If Don Corneo picks Tifa. make sure to tell Aeris "we gotta help Tifa."
- When you fall into the sewers, talk to Aeris first.
- When Marlene asks how you feel about Aeris, answer "I don't know."
- When you meet Red XIII, ask Tifa to take care of Aeris. After the battle, make sure your party is Cloud, Barret, and Red XIII.
- When Tifa asks you if you can break out of jail, answer "kinda hard."
- When you're asked to think about people in jail, think about Red XIII first, then Barret, and finally Aeris.
- When escaping Midgar, make your party Cloud, Barret and Red XIII.
- In Kalm after the flashback, tell Barret to "wait a sec" and then choose "is that all?"
- In Kalm after the flashback, make your party Cloud, Tifa and Aeris. Find a woman who says that Mako energy is convenient, and tell her "yeah, maybe." Afterwards, find the little girl upstairs talking about old life, and tell her "no way."
- In Fort Condor, disagree twice with the old man.
- Find Yuffie in Junon's forest. Strangely, every time you fail to acquire Yuffie by saying the wrong things increases your chances of getting the Yuffie date. But if you do everything correctly, you shouldn't purposely need to fail to get the Yuffie date.
- On the Cargo Ship, give Yuffie a Tranquilizer. Talk to Aeris and tell her "I dunno..." when she asks about the Airship. Talk to Tifa and tell her "I don't know" when she asks you about war.
- At the Gold Saucer, talk to Aeris with you. Don't talk to the others.
- When going to see Dyne in Corel Prison, make your party Cloud, Barret and Yuffie.
- Make your party Cloud, Tifa and Aeris and go to Gongaga. Meet with Zack's parents, then leave town without speaking to any of the two girls.
- Complete the Wutai sidequest.
- How to date Barret:
- Buy a flower from Aeris.
- When Jessie asks you about the train mission and the ID stuff, say that you're "looking forward to it."
- Give the Aeris' flower to Marlene.
- Don't talk to Tifa in the bar after the first mission. During the time you're forced to talk to her and are presented with options, pick "...Sorry." The next morning, tell her "Barret's snoring kept me up..."
- Don't get caught by the security lockdown on the train; make it all the way to the end.
- Makes sure that Cloud gets chosen for Don Corneo's date. When Don asks you if there's someone else, answer yes and say it's Barret.
- In the sewers, talk to Aeris first.

- When escaping Midgar, make your party Cloud, Barret and Red XIII.
- After the flashback in Kalm, tell Barret to "wait a sec," and then choose "beautiful, just beautiful!"
- In Kalm, Make your party Cloud, Barret and Red XIII. Find the woman who says that Mako energy is convenient, and tell her "you're full of it." Afterwards, find the little girl upstairs talking about old life, and tell her "yeah, maybe."
- In Fort Condor, agree twice with the old man.
- On the Cargo Ship, don't give Yuffie a Tranquilizer (if you have her). Talk to Aeris, and tell her "I dunno..." when she asks about the Airship. Talk to Tifa, and tell her "I don't know" when she asks you about war.
- At the Gold Saucer, take Red XIII with you.
- When going to see Dyne in Corel Prison, make your party Cloud, Barret and Red XIII.
- Make your party Cloud, Tifa and Aeris and go to Gongaga. Meet with Zack's parents, then leave town without speaking to any of the two girls.
- Do not complete Yuffie's sidequest.
- Gold Chocobo Howto:
- Rent all 6 Chocobo stables, make sure you have a Chocobo Lure materia.
- Get lots of Sylkis Greens from the Chocobo Sage on in the promised land.
- Steal 3 Carob Nuts from the red monsters with lots of HP found just outside bone village.
- Steal 1 Zeio Nut from the Goblins on Goblin Island (in the far northeast).
- Catch a male and female "good" chocobo in the Gold Saucer area.
- Catch a male and female "great" chocobo in the Mideel area.
- Feed them all maximum helpings of Sylkis Greens, and race them as high as you can.
- Mate the "good" female chocobo and the "great" male chocobo with a Carob Nut to get a blue chocobo. After that, release the parents.
- Mate the other the "good" male and "great" female with a Carob Nut to get a green chocobo. Make sure its gender is opposite of the blue chocobo. After that, release the parents.
- Feed and race the colored chocobos.
- Mate the blue and green chocobos to produce a black chocobo.
- Catch a "wonderful" chocobo from the snowy promised land outside the ice town of the opposite sex of your black one.
- Feed and train the wonderful chocobo.
- Mate the wonderful chocobo and the black chocobo to produce a gold chocobo.
- Filling up all your enemy skill materia orbs is real easy. You can even wait and get all enemy skills at the end of the game if you want to! All except one: Trine. Trine can only be gotten in a few places: the boss in the mountains of Cloud's hometown, the materia keeper in the promised land, and the final boss in Yuffie's subquest. Since you don't get your fourth piece of Enemy Skill until AFTER the airship, you must delay Yuffie's subquest until then to fill all 4. If you only want to fill 3, like me (seeing as how there is no practical use for 4), you don't have to create such a ridiculous delay on Yuffie's subquest.
- Some tricky ultimate weapons and limit breaks:
- Cloud: Defeat Ultima Weapon for his ultimate weapon. Fight in the battle arena for his ultimate break.
- Barret: TAKE BARRET WITH YOU when you invade Midgar in disk two. It will create a treasure chest with his ultimate weapon, which is the best one in the game. His ultimate break is in Corel. Talk to the people in the Corel tents after you save them from the train impact. Disk 2.
- Tifa: Play the highwind song on Tifa's piano in her house for her final break. The piano sequence you need is X-S-T-(L1+T)-(L1+S)-X-S-T-(L1+X)-O-X-S-X. Her best weapon is in the Midgar Wall Market item shop with the machine gun on the ceiling. Talk to the computer and get her break. Getting back into Migar requires you to dig the key up in the bone village. Make sure you talk to the guy who lost his key outside of Midgar first, then go the bone village and search for "normal treasure."
- Aeris: A sleepy guy in a cave northeast of Junon across the river accessible only by your buggy tells you all kinds of strange stuff. How many battles you've fought, how many you've run away from, and he rambles about high level materia and a few other things if I remember correctly. When your battle count has two of the same number in it such as 122, he'll wake up and give you something. Keep fighting battles and waking him up until he gives you Mythril. Then trade the Mythril to the guy who lives in the one-room house on the east side of the western continent. He'll let you pick something from a big or small box. Pick the small box. It's Aeris' ultimate break. Her best weapon is in the Temple of the Anciencts.
- Red XIII: Go to Cosmo Canyon in disk three and talk to Grandpa to get Red's ultimate weapon. His best break is in Cloud's home town, Shinra mansion, in the locked safe. The safe code is right 36, left 10, right 59, and right 97.
- Yuffie: Complete her side quest and defeat the tower at the back of Wutai for her ultimate break. Find her ultimate weapon in the sunken plane at the bottom of the ocean.
- Cait Sith: Only has two limit breaks, both are natural. His ultimate break is in the locker room in the rest area of the Shinra Building. You can only get it when you invade Midgar in disk 2. It requires a significant detour to climb all those floors too.
- Vincent: When you get the submarine in disk two, find the hidden passageway which takes you to a dead end, then surface. It will take you to the top of a waterfall on the central continent. Get off the submarine and go inside with Vincent on your party. You'll learn about Vincent's past. When disk 3 begins, return there to recieve his ultimate weapon and limit break.
- There are 3 materia orbs you can only get in the Chocobo races. Sneak Attack, Magic Counter, and Enemy Away. They're a pain in the ass to get due to the randomness of the prizes.
- There's a materia orb called Added Cut in the great glacier. It's a pain in the ass to find because it's difficult to see and the great glacier is difficult to navigate.
- You can get a flashback explaining how Zack died and how Cloud made it to Midgar if you go to the bottom of Shinra Mansion where the Library is in disk three. Examine the writing on the glass containers just outside the library...
- You can steal three of the best armor in the game from Rude in the three different fights involving him.
- You can steal Touph Rings (Sephiroth's accessory) from Reno in the fights involving him.
- You can steal a weapon for Yuffie called "Rising Sun" from the Weapon that attacks Midgar when you fight it in disk 2.
- You can steal a cursed ring from Ultima Weapon when it attacks Mideel in disk 2. You can also be given a cursed ring by finding the beat up old key, using it on the painted door, and telling the truth of your foolishness to the store owner after your attempt before Mideel is destroyed. (Cursed rings are useless though.)
- You can morph Tonberry / Pug / wobbling short little reptile guy with a knife whom casts the annoying "Everyone's Grudge" / whatever you call him into ribbons.
- You can dupe any item you can use in battle and have at least two of with the W-item materia. (W-item is gotten when you invade Midgar. When you get to the train tracks portion, go BACKWARDS until you reach the end. You'll find a save point and the W-item.) Equip someone with W-item. Get in a battle. With the person who has W-item, use the item you want to dupe on someone once, then select another item, any item, and just before you target it, hit cancel. It create a copy of whatever you selected first. At this point you can repeatedly bring up a target and cancel it and it will create more and more of your item. Most useful in duping hero drinks, elixers, and megalixers.
- Since you now have infinite elixers using the above said trick, you can level up yourself and your materia ridiculously fast by feeding the Magic Pots elixers in the northern crater. Useful to bring Cloud and Cid along because they're the only characters with triple growth weapons.
- An easy way to clear the battle square in the gold saucer is to set Cloud's limit to 3, let monsters pound him until he's hit his limit, take him to the battle square, give him mime materia (DO NOT give him any form of counter attack), a ribbon, and time materia. Cast haste, then unleash Meteorain. Try to pick status ailments as penalties, your ribbon makes you immune, then mime yourself. You'll mime your limit break over and over again. It's a great way to get battle points quickly.
- Occasionally when you summon choco-mog you get a big ass fat chocobo to fall on your enemy instead of the regular summon. This is very rare.
- Sometimes when you talk to the pilot of the airship, you get a flashing "Limit Break!" message. In my case "Learner Pilot (L14 Limit Break!)". See screenshot if you don't believe me. I still haven't figured out why this happens.
